Movie Review: Texas Chainsaw Massacre

What's up with young people trying to gentrify old ghost towns? Almost every horror movie, aside from a few, have young people wandering to the wrong places—unlike Scream where the horror comes to meet you at home. Texas Chainsaw Massacre is the latest in the horror movie slasher and it didn't fail to check every horror formula. Movie plot It's 50 years since the last massacre and it looks like the town is back to normal, that is, until a group of friends decide to turn the town into a hippie spot with book shops, art shops, restaurants, etc. They embark on a trip to Harlow and when they wrongfully evict an occupant from an orphanage home, things take a turn for the worst. Spoilers ahead So, where do we begin? Let me start with a general caution. Before you evict someone from their home, be absolutely sure you're on the right. Dante was feeling all high and mighty like he was really trying to achieve something spectacular, but turns out the weir...

Movie Review: A Madea Homecoming

Madea is back! Hallelujer! After the Madea Family Funeral we thought we had seen the last of this iconic screen character, but 2022 has given us a reason to laugh out loud. Movie Plot Madea's Homecoming surrounds the family getting together for Madea's great grandson's graduation ceremony. As expected when the Madea clan comes together, secrets are revealed and chaos the order of the day. Spoilers ahead First off, Madea is a great grandmother. Not grand. Great grand. That's three generations alive in the clan. How old exactly is Madea? Did she take some vampire blood?  Back to serious issues? What type of best friend helps her best friend divorce her husband and then fall in love with the best friend's husband to the extent of wanting to get married to him. That's wrong on so many levels. Especially if you include the fact that she was the attorney in charge of the divorce and the douche bag got everything from the divorce. Babe! She freaking broke e...

Movie Review: Love Hard

Love is hard! I don't know why I've been sleeping on this movie. Oh, wait. I do know. It came out around the same time as a gazillion romantic movies did and I was not having it. Well, I decided to see it now and it was surprisingly good.  Movie plot Nat is a young attractive lady who's in search of love. She's been matched so many times on a dating app, but has always drawn the short straw. When she finally gets the match of her life, she flies to surprise him for Christmas and gets the surprise of her life. Spoilers ahead Okay. This movie had the ingredients of typical romantic cliches to the T. Every element was present and then some.  Formula Boy and girl meet. Girl doesn't like the boy because he lied. Girl falls for someone else and realizes the boy is the one. By then the boy is hurt and the girl didn't realize how much he loved her. Girl comes back with a grand romantic apology. Movie ends. Question, though. Do people really travel halfway ac...

Movie Review: All of Us Are Dead

Phew! I don't know where to begin. I really don't. What a rollercoaster. Honestly, I'm not a fan of Korean movies. What I mean is that I don't go online specifically looking for anything Korean to watch, but you see this one? I had to. Hmmm. It happened to me the way Squid game happened to me and I must commend the directors and all the cast. Those kids were amazing. Enough gist. Lets dive right into the matter. Movie Plot While trying to make his son courageous against bullies, a science teacher accidentally creates the Jonas Virus. A zombie virus that kills the host and takes over the human senses (regular zombie stuff). The virus starts with his son and wife, which he's able to contain, but when a student gets bitten by an infected rat, pandemonium breaks out in school as students of Hyosan turn on each other. Massive spoilers ahead. And I mean massive ones! I took out time this weekend to watch this because I love horror with all my heart. Plus, if y...

Movie Review: Ghostbusters Afterlife

Who you gonna call? Ghostbusters Afterlife has come and gone, but are the ghosts truly gone? So far, we've been blessed with three different Ghostbusters:  the all-male cast (classic) the all-female cast  and now, the all-teens cast. Movie Recap A family of three inherit a property that turns out to be more than meets the eye as they battle to save the world against evil forces greater than anything they've ever seen. The story continues almost four decades later, and it follows the life of one of the original Ghostbusters; Egan Spangler. After their rise to fame in New York, the Ghostbusters slowly began to lose clients (a sign that they were doing a great job), and each member took to their lives. All except Spangler who foresaw the world coming to an end in the future. He abandoned his family and took off to where the world is supposedly going to end leaving a bad rep with his daughter, grandchildren and friends. Afterlife is no joke. Eg...

Movie Review: Hotel Transylvania; Transformania

Just the three of us! Hotel Transylvania is one of the most successful animation franchises.  Witty casting, wonderful storyline and amazing characters with a blend of comedy. When the first instalment premiered we got to see a vampire-themed cartoon that took off and won the hearts of many. Now in its fourth instalment, the question I'm asking is, was three not a good number? Movie Recap Hotel Transylvania 4: Transformania looks at life in the castle on the 125th hotel anniversary. Imagine being alive that long and still having good looks. Dracula is in a tight spot as to whether Johnny should be fit to run his hotel and thus elongates his retirement. Johnny, in a bid to blend in, turns to Van Helsing for help and he gets his help in the form of a ray that turns humans into monsters. Talk about complications. Little did he know that being a monster has more downsides than perks. Okay. Do I like Hotel Transylvania? Yes. Absolutely. With three being my favour...

Movie Review: Sing 2

"Well, anyone who dares sets out to follow their dreams is bound to face a lot worse than a dip in the carnal." This has got to be the most motivational speech I've ever heard. Nanny gave it to him hard and direct. Sorry. Where are my manners? Sing! No, I don't mean you should sing. Today's review is all about Illuminations' latest animation. I love the tion endings. Movie Recap Buster Moon runs a show with trusted friends and he's a pretty big deal at home until he decides to expand to the big city. His life and those of his friends turn a rollercoaster when they decide to go against all doubt and fight for what they believe in. The first scene has us watching the elephant, Meena play Alice in Wonderland with music notes after music notes.  I have to admit something. I've never seen Sing. Tshusssssss Don't tell anyone. I'll be seeing Sing 1 after this. Let's start with that adorable cute Koala. BUSTER MOON Naturall...
