Movie Review: Eternals

Well, well, well, look who the bad guy is. I've been waiting on Eternals for weeks now and you might wonder if my wait was worth it.

You'll need to read to find out now, won't you?

Movie Recap

A group of men and women tagged the Eternals are created to defeat the Deviant. They stay in their task until they're mandated to live a life.

I don't even understand this recap.

Let's try this.

Men and women called Eternals are tasked with defending Earth, or so they thought. Their task takes a turn for the worse as they realise their sole aim on Earth was to destroy it after an emergence.

This sounds better.

The one thing Avengers didn't have seems to be ever-present in the Eternals. Yeah, you guessed as much, a Judas.

Or should I say Sun?

It's one thing when a mere mortal stands true to their ideologies—Hitler is a raging example of how far a man can go in his quest—but when it's a hero, jeez. Especially the strongest hero.

I'll try to avoid spoilers for those who haven't seen the movie, yet.

Marvel in their usual fashion has given us something unexpectedly nice. I don't care about Rotten tomatoes but the story, well.

We'll see.

"I've been waiting to clip your wings for a long time, Ikarus."

Way to go with the Greek reference, Phastos.

Let's start slow.

Marvel's phase four has taken a new turn with the inclusion of more superheroes, different storylines and villains with a heart. Though I doubt if we'll get a timeline as we did in the previous phases, it's still too early to say.

The Eternals had adequate representation from my POV. We had a black guy (Phastos), two Asians (Gilgamesh and Sersi) we also had the LGBTQ represented, our first Indian (Kingo), Irish (Ikarus and Druig), an American (Sprite), our very first deaf Marvel hero (Makkari), a single strong woman (Thena) and a Latina woman (Ajak).

I believe that covers it, right?

Oh, and it was also directed by a female.

Inclusivity all around.

Storyline

I liked the story. Everybody sees themselves as a hero doing the right thing, but in the end, they're just puppets.

The revaluation of what we stand for and where our loyalties lie is something many of us struggle with daily. While Ikarus was adamant and focused on seeing Earth destroyed, others had formed a bond and began to adapt and fall in love with Earth.

Would have made sense if they helped out the Avengers, though. Just saying.

For people who are Eternals, they sure die easily and hurt bad. Couldn't Arishem have built them with special eternal healing ability?

If you check the definition of Sprite you'll understand why I wasn't surprised with her attitude. I felt like killing her the entire duration of the movie.

Why not complain to the person who made you rather than go genocidal? And if you love someone, just say it.

I can bet you that Africa would have survived that emergence. We're never affected even when the world is in grave danger. The same way we survived Don't Look Up.

Ikarus loves Sersi. I believe that much. He was just misguided by his duty. That's what happened when you don't form bonds even after 7,000 years on Earth.

The Gilgamesh guy was a character everyone loved. He's that one friend everyone should have because there'll be when the worse happens.

He got the right superpower. After holding down a horde of zombies in Train to Busan, it was nice seeing him watch out for our Thena.

Do you guys see the resemblance to Benedict Wong?

Love did prevail because Omni man would have brutalised her and then tried to hold back eventually.

Druig wasn't the so-called bad guy after all. He just saw things from our perspective.

And look who now finally knows something. It's Snow. Looking dashing as ever, but wiser it seems and back with his brother.

And wait, Thanos has a brother who isn't overly genocidal and quite handsome. People, say hello to Harry Styles.

From Pennywise to Eternals, Bill Skarsgard keeps giving us vibes as Deviant Kro.

Marvel is dropping enough breadcrumbs to create five more phases if they want.

There were some flat moments though. I won't get into it today.

But they're doing okay.

My Questions

How does Snow as Black Night fit into all these?

Why is it important?

What will Arishem do?

Why didn't he take the three abode the ship?

What's the relationship with Thanos' brother?

Can Marvel maintain Harry Styles, Angelina Jolie and Kit Harrington?

I wanted to see more from Kumail and Ajak. But well, there's always next time. At least for Kumail.

They'll return somehow, somewhere. And we're waiting.

The Gentlemen; Movie Review

CAST   Matthew McConaughey (Michael Pearson) Charlie Hunnam (Raymond Smith) Henry Golding (Dry Eye) Hugh Grant ( Fletcher) Michelle Dockery (Rosalind Fletcher) Jeremy Strong (Matthew Berger) Eddie Marson (Big Dave) Colin Farrell (Coach).       The words " drug" and " Mafia" have been known to be associated with blood, chain of commands and dirty deals. The world of drugs isn't one to be taken lightly as every action can be interpreted as either weakness or strength. The Gentlemen showed a slightly different approach to the drug world. It wasn't without deaths and orders but it hard a slightly comedic part to it. Spoilers ahead .      If you've seen the movie, then you can either agree or disagree with some of the wordings here. But if you haven't, I'll try to lessen the spoilers. If the movie had been 3hours long or even 4hours, I doubt if I would notice. Because I was glued to my screen till the very end. The blend and scenery was q...

Movie Review: Moonshot

Well, well, well, would you look at Mars. I've been craving a romance movie for a while now and when I saw the trailer for Moonshot, I was like, yes. Finally! Something to see.  Yeah, maybe not so much happiness after all. Movie Plot Following the evolution of earth in 2049 where Mars is now habitable and a plane ticket cost $950,000, two teenagers struggle to come to their reality. While one longs to go to Mars because he doesn't feel at home on earth, the other misses her boyfriend and decides to go and join him. With so many dreams on the line, the two of them explore their fantasies. Okay. Where do I start from? Seeing Lana Condor and Cole Sprouse gave me so much happiness. You just have to love those two because of their individual performance in so many other movies. Case in point: Riverdale and To All The Boys I've Loved Before. I didn't have any expectations aside from seeing both of them together.  The storyline was pretty normal. You know, those re...

Movie Review; Vampires vs. The Bronx

Cast Coco Jones, Method Man, Chris Reed, Jarden Micheal, The Kid Mero, Gregory Diaz IV, Zoe Saldana, Sarah Gardon. Vampires vs. The Bronx is about a group of kids trying to save their neighbourhood with amateurish vampire techniques—which come in handy. How do kids always have this confidence to face the evil that's new to them? If I as much as see a rat, I'm getting the hell out of that place—but not these kids. They uncover conspiracies and charge head-on. Impressive. They might not be able to stand up to school bullies, but they have what it takes to stand up to vampires and clowns.  The movie had a regular dose of finding one's strength in friendship and solidarity. And the usual community-never-believing-the-kids until the worse has happened or is close. Please, you must not divulge information to everyone. Don't take the bait and talk about how you're alone searching for a purpose or have no family around who'll miss you. That's how people...
