Animation Review: Soul

Cast

Jamie Foxx, Angela Basset, Tina Fey, Richard Ayoade, Daveed Diggs, Sam Lavagnino, Phylicia Rashad.

Way to go Pixar!

As an ardent cartoon watcher, it's not every time I see an animation like Soul. The lesson and reason behind the whole animation spoke to me, and I'm sure many others as they watched it.

Kudos to them on the casting and breaking records.

Summary

A middle-aged school teacher gets the opportunity of a lifetime to play with a famous band. While this sets everything in motion for a good life, or rather a life he had always wanted, his dreams are halted when he falls into limbo after an accident.

This limbo sets the pace for a revelation like no another, and a chance to do right by a certain 22.

Plot

When it started, I couldn't say what sort of animation I was going to get. I knew it wasn't the happily-ever-after Disney tradition, but then I just couldn't place it.

Thirty minutes into the movie and I'm laughing my ass out. Jamie as a fat cat is a sight for sore eyes. It reminded me of Garfield and his shenanigans.

This movie took me through all my emotions: happiness, worry, sadness and relief. A relief that comes when you know you've found that which you seek.

The casting was spot on. I mean, who better to act the role than a musician who plays  the piano for real.

I would have loved to see what happened to 22. Where did she go? Who did she get into? Did she make a difference? Was it worth it?

There's a part that cracks me up a lot; when Counsellor Jerry, female, sorted the souls: 'You five will be arrogant and you twelve will be self-absorbed'. Nice going, Jerry.

Also, any part that had Jamie as the cat. I just couldn't hold it back. I laughed till I cried.

I liked the animation. It didn't have a semblance to Incredibles or any other animation I may have seen. It was nice.

I normally go on and on about a movie but for this one it'll be short.

I adored how they stuck to jazz and its black origin. It didn't try to blend any unncessary information into the story.

If Pixar keeps dropping animations like this, they'll clean off every nomination.

My two-cents

Most times we pursue our dreams with so much tenacity and courage that we ignore what's important. We don't live our lives, neither do we enjoy ourselves. We take everything for granted and rush to a supposed finish line.

What happens next? If after chasing through your dreans you missed out on life, what happens next?

There's more to life than blindly chasing dreams.

If you need any more conviction, watch soul.

 Rating: 9/10.

Movie Review: Encanto

"Maybe your gift is being in denial." Ouch! That stung. Have you seen Encanto ? If yes, ride along and let's go through fun scenes. If you haven't, book a seat, enjoy the ride. Have you accidentally called it Enchanto instead of Encanto? No need to fret, I also had the same issue the first time I sww the trialer. Movie recap A family is blessed with supernatural powers with each child exhibiting a different power from the other. The magic surrounding the family falls into chaos and it's up to one member of the family to save them all. Madrigal! I've been humming her song for a while now. The tune and beat just stay with you. Plot Massive spoilers ahead. In the Madrigal family we have Abuela, and her three kids—Pepa, Julietta and Bruno and then we have her grandkids—Mirabel, Dolores, Isabella, Louisa, Camilo and Antonio. Pepa, Julietta and Bruno are blessed with weather influence, healing and vision respectively. Their kids Louisa, Isabella, Camilo,...

Movie Review: Moonshot

Well, well, well, would you look at Mars. I've been craving a romance movie for a while now and when I saw the trailer for Moonshot, I was like, yes. Finally! Something to see.  Yeah, maybe not so much happiness after all. Movie Plot Following the evolution of earth in 2049 where Mars is now habitable and a plane ticket cost $950,000, two teenagers struggle to come to their reality. While one longs to go to Mars because he doesn't feel at home on earth, the other misses her boyfriend and decides to go and join him. With so many dreams on the line, the two of them explore their fantasies. Okay. Where do I start from? Seeing Lana Condor and Cole Sprouse gave me so much happiness. You just have to love those two because of their individual performance in so many other movies. Case in point: Riverdale and To All The Boys I've Loved Before. I didn't have any expectations aside from seeing both of them together.  The storyline was pretty normal. You know, those re...

The Gentlemen; Movie Review

CAST   Matthew McConaughey (Michael Pearson) Charlie Hunnam (Raymond Smith) Henry Golding (Dry Eye) Hugh Grant ( Fletcher) Michelle Dockery (Rosalind Fletcher) Jeremy Strong (Matthew Berger) Eddie Marson (Big Dave) Colin Farrell (Coach).       The words " drug" and " Mafia" have been known to be associated with blood, chain of commands and dirty deals. The world of drugs isn't one to be taken lightly as every action can be interpreted as either weakness or strength. The Gentlemen showed a slightly different approach to the drug world. It wasn't without deaths and orders but it hard a slightly comedic part to it. Spoilers ahead .      If you've seen the movie, then you can either agree or disagree with some of the wordings here. But if you haven't, I'll try to lessen the spoilers. If the movie had been 3hours long or even 4hours, I doubt if I would notice. Because I was glued to my screen till the very end. The blend and scenery was q...
