My Spy; Movie Review

 Cast

Dave Batista (JJ), Chloe Coleman (Sophie Newton), Kristen Schaal (Boobi), Parissa Fitz-Henley (Kate Newton), Greg Bryk (Victor Marquez), Ken Jeong (David Kim)

Transitioning from wrestling to acting hasn't always favoured some athletes. But for Dave Bautista, this move has seen his involvement in some top movies like Guardians of the Galaxy, Expendables, Kick boxer:Vengeance and quite recently My Spy.

SPOILERS

An ex-special forces, now CIA agent is tasked with an undercover job; surveliance While undercover, he is discovered by the child of the target and has to do as she says, else she blows his cover. And as it is with kids and demand, they never end. From skating, to show and tell in school, to training her as a spy recruit, he opens up his humanity and falls for her mother. When thorns rear their head in the operation loyalties are tested.

Obvious flaws exist in the storyline though. For starters, who trust their kid with a total stranger, no matter what the child says. Even going as far as sending him to the school. Who trusts that way?

And the gay couple next door, I so didn't see that coming. "no one suspects the gay couple" truly. But I loved how they were private contractors.

My Spy strikes a semblance to The Pacifier. The comedy, spy, action and entanglement with family. I'll give it a rating of 8 based on It's comedic and entertaining content. Would have loved to see more action.

For an action comedy movie, it did quite good.

SPIES IN DISGUISE

Unbird me now! The Spies in Disguise- which is also Will Smith's second animation is a brilliant piece of work. Cast Will Smith (Lance Sterling), Tom Holland (Walter Beckett), Rashida Jones (Marcy Kappel), Ben Mendelsohn (Robotic arm Villain), DJ Khalid (Ears), Reba Mac in tire (Joy Jerkins).       The story centers around a genius kid- Walter who has no social life but a talent for  inventing non-dangerous spy equipment. He feels there is a less violent way to save the World and seeks the help of the world's best Spy- Lance Sterling (Will Smith) in order to achieve this. But we must keep in mind that all change is hard at the beginning, messy at the middle and eventually beautiful at the end.       Okay, enough plot for now. Down to analysis. The flow between the two actors, Will Smith and Tom Holland was apt. Despite not seeing each other over the course of the 2 years which the film was being produced. The voicing from the ac...

TELENOVELAS IN RETROSPECT

Despite our various tribes and culture, there will always be something that links each and everyone of us together. Be it The UEFA Champions League, NBA's, Grammy's, Oscars. In that moment, we are not people of different cultures or tribes, we are one in thoughts. Before Zeeworld became a thing, Mexican telenovelas were already a hit. AIT and Galaxy made it their purpose to unite Nigerians with their novelas. So today, as a form of throwback, we take a look at some of those series that glued people to their seats. Those series that made people dismiss from fellowships early, and led to  neighbors being closer.  11. The Woman Of My Life (1998) La Mujer de mi Vida     A woman is blamed for the death of her husband after the murder weapon was found in her hands (okay, no offence, but if you find your partner dead, kindly weep from afar, don't go touching him or the murder weapon). She definitely goes through the impossible to prove her innocence. There's als...
