Movie Review; Coffee and Kareem

Cast

Ed Helms (James Coffee), Taraji P. Henson (Vanessa Manning), Andrew Bachelor (Rodney), David Alan Grier (Captain Hill), Betty Gilpin (Detective Linda Watts), Terrence Little Garden high (Kareem Manning).

How is Kareem not an adult in child's body? I mean, what child spiels half of what he did in the movie. The level of strong language in the movie was so much I felt the movie should be rated 20.

Spoilers

So, officer James Coffee is a white cop in a ghetto neighborhood who happens to be in love with a black nurse who has a 12 year old son: Kareem. Doing his best to impress his girlfriend's son he agrees to drop him off after school, unbeknowest to him Kareem had other plans. Kareem drags his family into the middle of a drug battle between dirty cops and Coffee.

The choice of characters in the movie was good.
Betty Gilpin (Detective Watts), was a crazy detective. After her casting in The Hunt, seeing her in a comedic eye was new. Being a corrupt cop might not be her forte after all.
Ed Helms (Coffee) is a clown. You might remember the dentist from the Hangover, yes, that's him. But in this movie we get to see him grow some "balls". After losing a suspect and demoted to traffic control he proves himself worthy of the badge.
Terrence Garden high (Kareem), I was at a lost for words while I watched this. Coming off as a punk who shouldn't be messed with, this child was a handful. An absolute terror.
Taraji P Henson (Vanessa), the famous Cookie Lion had to deal with a different kind of mess. Trying to ignite friendship between her boyfriend and her son, she is at crossroads and goes the extra mile to defend what's hers.
Okay, I just have to ask some questions.
Who takes a child to a strip club? A strip club! Gives him a gun too. I'm not sure what the director had in mind, but a child is a child, no matter what.

The comedy wasn't lacking at all. There was enough to last till the movie came to an end. Despite the strong language from the child, the movie was quite interesting. A nice blend of crime and comedy.

The Gentlemen; Movie Review

CAST   Matthew McConaughey (Michael Pearson) Charlie Hunnam (Raymond Smith) Henry Golding (Dry Eye) Hugh Grant ( Fletcher) Michelle Dockery (Rosalind Fletcher) Jeremy Strong (Matthew Berger) Eddie Marson (Big Dave) Colin Farrell (Coach).       The words " drug" and " Mafia" have been known to be associated with blood, chain of commands and dirty deals. The world of drugs isn't one to be taken lightly as every action can be interpreted as either weakness or strength. The Gentlemen showed a slightly different approach to the drug world. It wasn't without deaths and orders but it hard a slightly comedic part to it. Spoilers ahead .      If you've seen the movie, then you can either agree or disagree with some of the wordings here. But if you haven't, I'll try to lessen the spoilers. If the movie had been 3hours long or even 4hours, I doubt if I would notice. Because I was glued to my screen till the very end. The blend and scenery was q...

Movie Review: A Madea Homecoming

Madea is back! Hallelujer! After the Madea Family Funeral we thought we had seen the last of this iconic screen character, but 2022 has given us a reason to laugh out loud. Movie Plot Madea's Homecoming surrounds the family getting together for Madea's great grandson's graduation ceremony. As expected when the Madea clan comes together, secrets are revealed and chaos the order of the day. Spoilers ahead First off, Madea is a great grandmother. Not grand. Great grand. That's three generations alive in the clan. How old exactly is Madea? Did she take some vampire blood?  Back to serious issues? What type of best friend helps her best friend divorce her husband and then fall in love with the best friend's husband to the extent of wanting to get married to him. That's wrong on so many levels. Especially if you include the fact that she was the attorney in charge of the divorce and the douche bag got everything from the divorce. Babe! She freaking broke e...

Movie Review: Moonshot

Well, well, well, would you look at Mars. I've been craving a romance movie for a while now and when I saw the trailer for Moonshot, I was like, yes. Finally! Something to see.  Yeah, maybe not so much happiness after all. Movie Plot Following the evolution of earth in 2049 where Mars is now habitable and a plane ticket cost $950,000, two teenagers struggle to come to their reality. While one longs to go to Mars because he doesn't feel at home on earth, the other misses her boyfriend and decides to go and join him. With so many dreams on the line, the two of them explore their fantasies. Okay. Where do I start from? Seeing Lana Condor and Cole Sprouse gave me so much happiness. You just have to love those two because of their individual performance in so many other movies. Case in point: Riverdale and To All The Boys I've Loved Before. I didn't have any expectations aside from seeing both of them together.  The storyline was pretty normal. You know, those re...
