LEGACIES

LEGACIES (TV SERIES)

Director: Paul Wesley

Cast: Matt Davis, Danielle Rose, Aria Shahghasemi, Kaylee Bryant, Jenny Boyd, Quincy Fouse, Peyton Alex Smith.

For years, series and stories about supernaturals (vampires, werewolves and witches) have been portrayed on our TV set.

We've had series like Buffy the Vampire slayer, Angel, Supernatural, Charmed, Vampire Diaries and The Originals.

The latest birth of supernaturals series being LEGACIES.

Spoilers ahead.

Coming into being in 2018 as a spinoff from The Originals which was a spinoff from Vampire diaries, it has carved a niche for itself among the many supernatural series to be produced, with the familiar face of Dr Alaric Saltzman. For those who saw the vampire diaries, you would remember that Alaric underwent many stages; a human, a vampire hunter, a vampire who killed other vampires and then finally becoming a human once more.

So it didn't come as much of a surprise seeing him catering to  a school for supernaturals.

Legacies starts off from where its predecessor- The Originals and Vampire Diaries ended. Caroline gave birth to Alaric's twins ( with the help of the gemini cult magic), Hope (Danielle Rose) lost both her dad (Klaus) and mum (Hailey) making Alaric ( Matt Davis) the only father figure in her life.

Before his death, Klaus (out of fear for what would happen to his daughter) donated a huge sum of money to ensure that the next generation of supernaturals were kept safe. Alaric was made principal (despite being human) due to his history with supernaturals.

Legacies shows the issues and joy of running a supernatural school, with all the curves and turns with it. It portrays love and sacrifices carried out for love. It also shows the struggle of a tribrid, Hope Michealson who is part-wolf, part-witch and part-vampire and sincerely is almost standoffish. Her life is that of loneliness until she meets Landon.

Landon (Aria Shahghasemi) a supernatural who doesn't know he is one, an orphan who has been to more foster care than he could count. Friends with Raph, a recently activated werewolf and fellow orphan. Together  their brotherliness and friendship set up a domino effect which would eventually affect the life of all around them.

Alaric's twins, Josie and Lizzy are gemini twins with exceptional behaviours. While Josie has co-dependent issues and the-ready-to-sacrifice attitude, Lizzy is all bossy and strong and some what selfish as well as psychotic. They must combine their will and put aside differences if they are to survive the 'merge'.

Whilst trying to keep his twins safe, Alaric and Hope go on recruitment missions together to find new supernaturals in need of help. This creates animosity between the twins and Hope.  When monsters begin to come for a dagger in care of the school, forces will have to merge to defeat the evil from Malivore.

As is with every school, status quo is observed among the vampires, werewolves and witches. Each with a sense of superiority.

There's also the male best friend who is apparently in love with his female best friend who is ignorant of his feelings. The love story between MG (Quincy Fouse) and Lizzy Saltzman is one to watch out for.

The series also sees the struggle of a teen in love, constantly betrayed and lied to. The strength of a father's love for his girls and what extent he would go for them. There's also friendship, with the highs and lows, siblings rivalry and disagreement, mystical beings and battles.

It is a must watch, if you are a lover of Drama, Occult fiction and Mythology.

Today we'll be discussing villains. Who's your favourite villain(s)? Comment below.

The Gentlemen; Movie Review

CAST   Matthew McConaughey (Michael Pearson) Charlie Hunnam (Raymond Smith) Henry Golding (Dry Eye) Hugh Grant ( Fletcher) Michelle Dockery (Rosalind Fletcher) Jeremy Strong (Matthew Berger) Eddie Marson (Big Dave) Colin Farrell (Coach).       The words " drug" and " Mafia" have been known to be associated with blood, chain of commands and dirty deals. The world of drugs isn't one to be taken lightly as every action can be interpreted as either weakness or strength. The Gentlemen showed a slightly different approach to the drug world. It wasn't without deaths and orders but it hard a slightly comedic part to it. Spoilers ahead .      If you've seen the movie, then you can either agree or disagree with some of the wordings here. But if you haven't, I'll try to lessen the spoilers. If the movie had been 3hours long or even 4hours, I doubt if I would notice. Because I was glued to my screen till the very end. The blend and scenery was q...

The turns in the The Turning

The horror movie genre is one of the most successful genre in the movie industry. Scary endings and suspense filled scenes have carved a niche and are not going anywhere anytime soon.     Inconclusive endings are not new to the genre but some endings are indeed too inconclusive. The turning is a 2020 horror movie which held a lot of scare factors but failed to land at a significant point.      With little similarities to The Boy 1, a young lady decides to tutor an orphaned little girl at their manor but is met with circumstances she could have never prepared for.         The whole story started out quite well -the creaking doors, the shadows, the nightmares and then there was an addition of the creepy behaviour given off by Miles, the brother of Flora.      The major flaw in the movie was the absence of a definitive conclusion, too many questions were left unanswered- Is Kate insane? Is Miles truly posses...
