Movie Review: "Extraction"

CAST Chris Hemsworth (Tyler Rake) Rudhraksh Jaiswal (Ovi Mahajan) Randeep Hooda (Sanju Rav) David Harbour (Gasper) Pankaj Tripathi (Ovi Mahajan Snr)       Whenever hype surrounds a movie two things are sure to happen. 1: it lives up to expectations. 2: it doesn't live up to expectations. Extraction is a 2020 Netflix movie starting Chris Hemsworth who plays the role of Tyler Rake. SPOILERS      The story is based on the decisions of a mercenary (Tyler Rake) who goes on that life changing decision and must decide to break protocols or not. And at his mercy is the abducted son of a drug baron (Ovi) who will experience the negative effects of being a drug barons child.     Now back to that hype. I feel the hype was based on the stunt choreography. I must say that the fight scenes and gunfights were beautifully choreographed. Every action was caught precisely and accurately. Was impressed with the role given to Ovi. Despite being you

Movie Review; Spenser Confidential

CAST Mark Wahlberg (Spenser) Winston Duke (Hawk) Alan Arkin ( Henry Cimoli) Bokeem Woodbine (Driscoli) Marc Maron ( Kayne Cosgrove) Iliza Shlesinger (Cissy Davis)       Spenser confidential is a compelling watch. It follows the story of a good cop (Spenser) who goes out of his way to set things right. He is incarcerated and released, only to find out that half the cops have been bought over by a kingpin including his best friend.       He teams up with a ex convict and roommate (Hawk) and together they try to amend the wrongs done to the unjustly accused good cops. This is definitely not the first time I've seen Mark take up a comedic action role. His bad ass attitude and child like demeanour makes it all so interesting to watch.     Winston Duke didn't disappoint either. Having seen him in Us and Black Panther, this was definitely another look and quite commendable. It's good to see he's not taking on a particular type of role.

Movie Review: Mortal Kombat Legends

CAST Jennifer Carpenter (Sonya Blade), Joel McHale (Johnny Cage), Patrick Seitz (Scorpion), Jordan Rodriguez (Liu Kang), David B. Mitchell (Raiden), Fred Tatasciore (Shao Kahn).      There are animations and there are animations . Mortal Kombat: Scorpions Revenge was an amazing do over. It was a very smart move- on the part of the production team to make the movie animated instead of using people and having to incorporate the crazy use of CGI's thereby taking away the fun of the kombat.      The storyline remains the same with the movie with a little inclusion of why Scorpion came for the tournament. The movements were flawless, the characters were as their movie mates and the dialogues were  astute. Minor exceptions exist between the movie and animation. Liu kang didn't battle Sub zero at all and princess Diana wasn't an ally. Aside that. It was interesting to watch. I'll definitely give it a 10/10  All images are sourced from Googl

Movie Review; A fall from Grace

Tyler Perry is one of those directors whose movies always bring up controversies amongst people. He achieved this with Acrimony and when A Fall from Grace was released, it amplified the arguments. SPOILERS Grace is a middle aged woman who falls in love with Shannon. A guy who appears too real to be true. She falls in love and marries him.  Later on she kills her husband and pleads guilty, waiting to be executed. A young DA lawyer is given the case to get a plea deal, she has her heart set on getting the deal but is touched when she sees Grace cry. This pushes her to investigate and fight for Grace. The investigations lead to a sinister movement which has been in place for a while.       .     Wrapping my head around the whole story took a while. I sat and thought about it a lot and I must commend Tyler Perry. It sounds totally made up, but there are schemes set in place to rob middle aged women of their valuables. The extent to which the scheme was carried out wa

Movie Review; Coffee and Kareem

Cast Ed Helms (James Coffee), Taraji P. Henson (Vanessa Manning), Andrew Bachelor (Rodney), David Alan Grier (Captain Hill), Betty Gilpin (Detective Linda Watts), Terrence Little Garden high (Kareem Manning). How is Kareem not an adult in child's body? I mean, what child spiels half of what he did in the movie. The level of strong language in the movie was so much I felt the movie should be rated 20. Spoilers So, officer James Coffee is a white cop in a ghetto neighborhood who happens to be in love with a black nurse who has a 12 year old son: Kareem. Doing his best to impress his girlfriend's son he agrees to drop him off after school, unbeknowest to him Kareem had other plans. Kareem drags his family into the middle of a drug battle between dirty cops and Coffee. The choice of characters in the movie was good.  Betty Gilpin (Detective Watts), was a crazy detective. After her casting in The Hunt, seeing her in a comedic eye was new. Being a

My Spy; Movie Review

Cast Dave Batista (JJ), Chloe Coleman (Sophie Newton), Kristen Schaal (Boobi), Parissa Fitz-Henley (Kate Newton), Greg Bryk (Victor Marquez), Ken Jeong (David Kim)     Transitioning from wrestling to acting hasn't always favoured some athletes. But for Dave Bautista, this move has seen his involvement in some top movies like Guardians of the Galaxy, Expendables, Kick boxer:Vengeance and quite recently My Spy. SPOILERS    An ex-special forces, now CIA agent is tasked with an undercover job; surveliance While undercover, he is discovered by the child of the target and has to do as she says, else she blows his cover. And as it is with kids and demand, they never end. From skating, to show and tell in school, to training her as a spy recruit, he opens up his humanity and falls for her mother. When thorns rear their head in the operation loyalties are tested. Obvious flaws exist in the storyline though. For starters, who trust their kid with a total stranger, n

The Gentlemen; Movie Review

CAST   Matthew McConaughey (Michael Pearson) Charlie Hunnam (Raymond Smith) Henry Golding (Dry Eye) Hugh Grant ( Fletcher) Michelle Dockery (Rosalind Fletcher) Jeremy Strong (Matthew Berger) Eddie Marson (Big Dave) Colin Farrell (Coach).       The words " drug" and " Mafia" have been known to be associated with blood, chain of commands and dirty deals. The world of drugs isn't one to be taken lightly as every action can be interpreted as either weakness or strength. The Gentlemen showed a slightly different approach to the drug world. It wasn't without deaths and orders but it hard a slightly comedic part to it. Spoilers ahead .      If you've seen the movie, then you can either agree or disagree with some of the wordings here. But if you haven't, I'll try to lessen the spoilers. If the movie had been 3hours long or even 4hours, I doubt if I would notice. Because I was glued to my screen till the very end. The blend and scenery was q

The turns in the The Turning

The horror movie genre is one of the most successful genre in the movie industry. Scary endings and suspense filled scenes have carved a niche and are not going anywhere anytime soon.     Inconclusive endings are not new to the genre but some endings are indeed too inconclusive. The turning is a 2020 horror movie which held a lot of scare factors but failed to land at a significant point.      With little similarities to The Boy 1, a young lady decides to tutor an orphaned little girl at their manor but is met with circumstances she could have never prepared for.         The whole story started out quite well -the creaking doors, the shadows, the nightmares and then there was an addition of the creepy behaviour given off by Miles, the brother of Flora.      The major flaw in the movie was the absence of a definitive conclusion, too many questions were left unanswered- Is Kate insane? Is Miles truly possessed by Quint? Can Flora see Quint but says no because of he

Brahms the Boy or The Doll

I had lots of questions after watching this sequel. If the doll possessed little Brahms in the past, did it also possess older Brahms? Was the doll responsible for the craziness of Brahms? Or did Brahms posses the doll. How exactly was the doll possessed? Did Jude become possesed or does he just have a psychological problem. These questions went on and on in my head as I watched the sequel.     The sequel was impressive.  I particularly liked how the ending was left open. But what a minute, there was a crazy part in that movie, I mean, who lets their child play with a doll that was buried? I definitely won't, no matter how attached he becomes. That was a bad move on the part of the parents. And P. S when your child tells you a doll told him his name, or gave him rules, maybe you should take it seriously. It was definitely more horrific that the first part and had more scare factors but it was kindof empty. On a scale of 1 to 10, I rate it a 7.
