DOLITTLE

Many of us -most especially the vets would give anything to understand what our beloved pets are saying. To know what every meow and woof signifies. But alas, we are not gifted that way.

But the opposite was the case for Dr John Dolittle who could understand every animal there was -even a dragon- and communicate in their individual languages too.

This  family adventure movie sees Robert Downey Junior(RDJ) take on a different, calmer role than his iconic Iron Man.

Cast

Antonio Banderas (King Rassouli), Harry Collett, (Tom Stubbins).

Voice over actors involved in the movie were Emma Thompson (Polynesia the parrot), Rami Maleek (Chee Chee, the gorilla), John Cena (Yoshi the bear), Kumail Nanjiani (Plimpton the ostrich), Octavia Spencer (Dab Dab the duck), Tom Holland (Jip the lurcher), Craig Robinson (Kevin the squirrel), Selena Gomez (Betsy the Giraffe), Ralph Fiennes (Barry the Tiger), Marion Cotillard (Tutu the fox)

The story looks at the life of Dolittle, his loss and his adventure with his family. I guess you might think I mean father,.mother etc. Guess again. I mean the animals.

When the Queen of England is poisoned, only Dolittle can cure her. Accompanied by his parrot, gorilla, bear, ostrich, squirrel, monkeys, bees, tick, rats, they embark on the adventure of a lifetime to retrieve a cure that is said to not exist from a tree that also doesn't exist, in a place that… Well you get the picture. It was simply an impossible journey.

As with every adventure movie, the journey is never known only the destination. There's sadness, run-ins with old rivals, turbulent seas but beneath it all, there's profound happiness in finding and belonging to a family.

While watching, look out for the scene where he was bargaining with the ants for their unlocking skills by using sugar cubes, yeah sugar cubes.

And the famous Godfather line was brought back  too-You come to me with this today, on the day of my daughter's wedding-

This was also the first movie after Avengers Endgame, where RDJ and Tom Holland (Jip) were cast side by side though Tom acted as a voice over. John Cena was also entertaining as a bear.

Though the reviews from rotten tomato and metacritic are disturbingly low, it doesn't change the fact that the movie is interesting.

I do hope a sequel happens.

Movie recap A family is blessed with supernatural powers with each child exhibiting a different power from the other. The magic surrounding the family falls into chaos and it's up to one member of the family to save them all. Madrigal! I've been humming her song for a while now. The tune and beat just stay with you. Plot Massive spoilers ahead. In the Madrigal family we have Abuela, and her three kids—Pepa, Julietta and Bruno and then we have her grandkids—Mirabel, Dolores, Isabella, Louisa, Camilo and Antonio. Pepa, Julietta and Bruno are blessed with weather influence, healing and vision respectively. Their kids Louisa, Isabella, Camilo,...

Movie Review: Moonshot

Well, well, well, would you look at Mars. I've been craving a romance movie for a while now and when I saw the trailer for Moonshot, I was like, yes. Finally! Something to see.  Yeah, maybe not so much happiness after all. Movie Plot Following the evolution of earth in 2049 where Mars is now habitable and a plane ticket cost $950,000, two teenagers struggle to come to their reality. While one longs to go to Mars because he doesn't feel at home on earth, the other misses her boyfriend and decides to go and join him. With so many dreams on the line, the two of them explore their fantasies. Okay. Where do I start from? Seeing Lana Condor and Cole Sprouse gave me so much happiness. You just have to love those two because of their individual performance in so many other movies. Case in point: Riverdale and To All The Boys I've Loved Before. I didn't have any expectations aside from seeing both of them together.  The storyline was pretty normal. You know, those re...

The Gentlemen; Movie Review

CAST   Matthew McConaughey (Michael Pearson) Charlie Hunnam (Raymond Smith) Henry Golding (Dry Eye) Hugh Grant ( Fletcher) Michelle Dockery (Rosalind Fletcher) Jeremy Strong (Matthew Berger) Eddie Marson (Big Dave) Colin Farrell (Coach).       The words " drug" and " Mafia" have been known to be associated with blood, chain of commands and dirty deals. The world of drugs isn't one to be taken lightly as every action can be interpreted as either weakness or strength. The Gentlemen showed a slightly different approach to the drug world. It wasn't without deaths and orders but it hard a slightly comedic part to it. Spoilers ahead .      If you've seen the movie, then you can either agree or disagree with some of the wordings here. But if you haven't, I'll try to lessen the spoilers. If the movie had been 3hours long or even 4hours, I doubt if I would notice. Because I was glued to my screen till the very end. The blend and scenery was q...
