Movie Review: Ghostbusters Afterlife

Who you gonna call? Ghostbusters Afterlife has come and gone, but are the ghosts truly gone? So far, we've been blessed with three different Ghostbusters:  the all-male cast (classic) the all-female cast  and now, the all-teens cast. Movie Recap A family of three inherit a property that turns out to be more than meets the eye as they battle to save the world against evil forces greater than anything they've ever seen. The story continues almost four decades later, and it follows the life of one of the original Ghostbusters; Egan Spangler. After their rise to fame in New York, the Ghostbusters slowly began to lose clients (a sign that they were doing a great job), and each member took to their lives. All except Spangler who foresaw the world coming to an end in the future. He abandoned his family and took off to where the world is supposedly going to end leaving a bad rep with his daughter, grandchildren and friends. Afterlife is no joke. Ega

Movie Review: Hotel Transylvania; Transformania

Just the three of us! Hotel Transylvania is one of the most successful animation franchises.  Witty casting, wonderful storyline and amazing characters with a blend of comedy. When the first instalment premiered we got to see a vampire-themed cartoon that took off and won the hearts of many. Now in its fourth instalment, the question I'm asking is, was three not a good number? Movie Recap Hotel Transylvania 4: Transformania looks at life in the castle on the 125th hotel anniversary. Imagine being alive that long and still having good looks. Dracula is in a tight spot as to whether Johnny should be fit to run his hotel and thus elongates his retirement. Johnny, in a bid to blend in, turns to Van Helsing for help and he gets his help in the form of a ray that turns humans into monsters. Talk about complications. Little did he know that being a monster has more downsides than perks. Okay. Do I like Hotel Transylvania? Yes. Absolutely. With three being my favour

Movie Review: Sing 2

"Well, anyone who dares sets out to follow their dreams is bound to face a lot worse than a dip in the carnal." This has got to be the most motivational speech I've ever heard. Nanny gave it to him hard and direct. Sorry. Where are my manners? Sing! No, I don't mean you should sing. Today's review is all about Illuminations' latest animation. I love the tion endings. Movie Recap Buster Moon runs a show with trusted friends and he's a pretty big deal at home until he decides to expand to the big city. His life and those of his friends turn a rollercoaster when they decide to go against all doubt and fight for what they believe in. The first scene has us watching the elephant, Meena play Alice in Wonderland with music notes after music notes.  I have to admit something. I've never seen Sing. Tshusssssss Don't tell anyone. I'll be seeing Sing 1 after this. Let's start with that adorable cute Koala. BUSTER MOON Naturall

Movie Review: Encanto

"Maybe your gift is being in denial." Ouch! That stung. Have you seen Encanto ? If yes, ride along and let's go through fun scenes. If you haven't, book a seat, enjoy the ride. Have you accidentally called it Enchanto instead of Encanto? No need to fret, I also had the same issue the first time I sww the trialer. Movie recap A family is blessed with supernatural powers with each child exhibiting a different power from the other. The magic surrounding the family falls into chaos and it's up to one member of the family to save them all. Madrigal! I've been humming her song for a while now. The tune and beat just stay with you. Plot Massive spoilers ahead. In the Madrigal family we have Abuela, and her three kids—Pepa, Julietta and Bruno and then we have her grandkids—Mirabel, Dolores, Isabella, Louisa, Camilo and Antonio. Pepa, Julietta and Bruno are blessed with weather influence, healing and vision respectively. Their kids Louisa, Isabella, Camilo,

Movie Review: Eternals

Well, well, well, look who the bad guy is. I've been waiting on Eternals for weeks now and you might wonder if my wait was worth it. You'll need to read to find out now, won't you? Movie Recap A group of men and women tagged the Eternals are created to defeat the Deviant. They stay in their task until they're mandated to live a life.  I don't even understand this recap.  Let's try this. Men and women called Eternals are tasked with defending Earth, or so they thought. Their task takes a turn for the worse as they realise their sole aim on Earth was to destroy it after an emergence. This sounds better. The one thing Avengers didn't have seems to be ever-present in the Eternals. Yeah, you guessed as much, a Judas.  Or should I say Sun? It's one thing when a mere mortal stands true to their ideologies—Hitler is a raging example of how far a man can go in his quest—but when it's a hero, jeez. Especially the strongest hero. I'll try to avo

Movie Review: Don't Look Up!

Look Up! Every movie has a message. Yes, every movie. Be it comedy, horror, romance, thrillers, etc. There's always an underlying message in the movies. Sometimes these messages are lost to the audience as they focus on other aspects of the movie and other times people get it. For Don't Look Up the message was glaring. It was factual, real, and dreadful. So, what was the big message? Movie Recap (Spoilers ahead) Amidst celebrations of realising a comet, two scientists, Dr Mindy (Leo) and student Dibiasky (J.Law) realise that the comet isn't just passing or hanging out with other Astro bodies, but actually heading for Earth. They scramble to get the word out but no one takes them seriously. The government goes against them and sells lies to the people. The world is destroyed and there's only one person left on Earth. Quite a recap, don't you think? At the point where they discovered the comet heading for Earth, you'll want to sigh and scr

Movie Review: The Matrix Resurrection

Mr Anderson! So, quick recap.  Mr Smith isn't Mr Smith and Morpheus isn't really Morpheus. I was lost. Matrix Resurrection has me caught in a very tight spot. On one hand, for a generation that saw Neo rise and do the bullet dive move, I had the nostalgia and it felt good, honestly. But I also feel three is such a wonderful number. It gave them an ending. Whether that ending was worth it is discussion for another day. But anyhoo, we have a part four titled Resurrections and it saw a lot of, well, resurrections. Movie Recap Picking up 60 years after Matrix 3 and the "death" of Neo and Trinity, we see the same thing happening again. The Matrix and the real world in existence with few being ignorant about existence of the free world. Though this time, there's a synergy between some machines and humans and we see the former city of Zion prospering in tranquility and technology. I don't know how far to go with this recap. Apologies for the spoilers. Neo
