MOVIE REVIEW; LOVEBIRDS 2020

The month of May seems to be filled with comedy. Lovebirds is the latest in the long line of movies to be released this year. It was released digitally by Netflix on the 22nd of May  and has received positive reviews mostly.

 Cast

Kumail Nanjiani (Jibrin), Issa Rae (Leilani Brooks); Anna Camp (Eddie), Paul Sparks (Moustache); Kyler Bornheimer (Breet), Andrene Ward-Hammond (Detective Martin)

Director: Michael Showalter.

I'll try to talk about this movie without actually "spoiling" it. Issa Rae plays the role of Leilani, an African-American in a relationship with an Indian. Yeah, you read right. The blend is just "sweet." Rae is a darling. I mean, really, a screen darling. The way she goes about comedic roles, and that funny facial expression she always has just makes you want to laugh your ass out. How she doesn't crack up mid-sentence, I wonder.

Kumail Nanjiani plays Jibrin. He is, for lack of a better word, fun. I couldn't stop laughing at his reaction to Keith, oops! Don't ask who Keith is, just keep reading (really need to not spoil this movie). Whoever paired those two really panned it out because it was a right move. Their onscreen "comicstry" was just apt.

Aside the jokes, there were intense scenes were both partners had to take a break and figure out where their relationship was heading. What they've lost, and how to rekindle the spark they once shared.

I'm reallly holding back from talking about the scenes and plot, loopholes, and funny lines. I can't spoil the movie, but I can definitely tell you this:

if you're looking for that movie that'll make you laugh away the stress of a corona-filled day, then this is the movie for you.

You know what, why don't you go ahead and see this movie, then we can come back and try this again. No censoring.

On a scale of 1 to 10 -all things considered- I'll give it a 7.

Movie Review: Encanto

"Maybe your gift is being in denial." Ouch! That stung. Have you seen Encanto ? If yes, ride along and let's go through fun scenes. If you haven't, book a seat, enjoy the ride. Have you accidentally called it Enchanto instead of Encanto? No need to fret, I also had the same issue the first time I sww the trialer. Movie recap A family is blessed with supernatural powers with each child exhibiting a different power from the other. The magic surrounding the family falls into chaos and it's up to one member of the family to save them all. Madrigal! I've been humming her song for a while now. The tune and beat just stay with you. Plot Massive spoilers ahead. In the Madrigal family we have Abuela, and her three kids—Pepa, Julietta and Bruno and then we have her grandkids—Mirabel, Dolores, Isabella, Louisa, Camilo and Antonio. Pepa, Julietta and Bruno are blessed with weather influence, healing and vision respectively. Their kids Louisa, Isabella, Camilo,...

Movie Review: Moonshot

Well, well, well, would you look at Mars. I've been craving a romance movie for a while now and when I saw the trailer for Moonshot, I was like, yes. Finally! Something to see.  Yeah, maybe not so much happiness after all. Movie Plot Following the evolution of earth in 2049 where Mars is now habitable and a plane ticket cost $950,000, two teenagers struggle to come to their reality. While one longs to go to Mars because he doesn't feel at home on earth, the other misses her boyfriend and decides to go and join him. With so many dreams on the line, the two of them explore their fantasies. Okay. Where do I start from? Seeing Lana Condor and Cole Sprouse gave me so much happiness. You just have to love those two because of their individual performance in so many other movies. Case in point: Riverdale and To All The Boys I've Loved Before. I didn't have any expectations aside from seeing both of them together.  The storyline was pretty normal. You know, those re...

The Gentlemen; Movie Review

CAST   Matthew McConaughey (Michael Pearson) Charlie Hunnam (Raymond Smith) Henry Golding (Dry Eye) Hugh Grant ( Fletcher) Michelle Dockery (Rosalind Fletcher) Jeremy Strong (Matthew Berger) Eddie Marson (Big Dave) Colin Farrell (Coach).       The words " drug" and " Mafia" have been known to be associated with blood, chain of commands and dirty deals. The world of drugs isn't one to be taken lightly as every action can be interpreted as either weakness or strength. The Gentlemen showed a slightly different approach to the drug world. It wasn't without deaths and orders but it hard a slightly comedic part to it. Spoilers ahead .      If you've seen the movie, then you can either agree or disagree with some of the wordings here. But if you haven't, I'll try to lessen the spoilers. If the movie had been 3hours long or even 4hours, I doubt if I would notice. Because I was glued to my screen till the very end. The blend and scenery was q...
